Adobe has heard the pleas and is making simplified versions of their big apps. No more braving Photoshop to figure out how to tweak images. Now you can do it right from your mobile device.

We’ve told you about Fix. Now meet its sister app, Mix, which is for editing pictures and images. Fix was for touchups. Mix is for mashups. Cut, combine, layer and share whatever your imagination splices together while you’re on the go. Snap a picture of your dog and ‘shop him so he’s standing over The Golden Gate Bridge. Put your sister’s face on your car’s hubcaps. That sort of thing. The app pulls right from your camera roll so don’t worry about having another file on your phone photos.

Adobe has always been a pro at helping you select the exact parts of the image you need and so the Magic Wand has made it to Mix. Now you can cut and copy or delete exactly the parts of the picture you’d like. Once you’ve got your snippet, you’re affording all the exposure, contrast, clarity, and saturation controls you could need.

Also, filters. We love them from Instagram and here’s something cool: you can apply them to select parts of the photo. Maybe only correct that sunset or that backflip. Or make your face black and white in a sea of daffodils. If your picture looks shaken, there is a correction tool for blur — though it has limits. And lastly there’s a tool to correct perspective anomalies from off-kilter camera angles or wide angle distortion.

The possibilities don’t stop.

When you’re done, Adobe is probably going to try to get you to upload those images to their cloud. Do what you want with your pictures, but we’d recommend putting them on a secure device under your control, like a secure mobile disk drive.
